David Casselman

An honors graduate of the University of Michigan and Southwestern Law School (selected 1993 Alumnus of the Year), David is a member and Past President (2005) of the Los Angeles Chapter and (2009) President of the California Chapters of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA); a past member of the Board of Directors of the Southern California Defense Counsel; past chairman of their Amicus Curiae Committee; a member of the International Association of Defense Counsel, the American Trial Lawyer’s Association, the Los Angeles County Bar Association, The Inn of Court and the Supreme Court Historical Society.

David has shared his experience, serving as an adjunct professor at Southwestern School of Law (Insurance Law) and The University of West Los Angeles School of Law (Trial Practice). He is a co-author of the three-volume Rutter Guide on Insurance Law, and the author of his own textbook used to teach law students.

He is also one of the co-authors of the “Hayden Law” in California, which requires extended medical care and protection for stray animals which are held by public shelters.

In 2001, David co-founded the Cambodia Wildlife Sanctuary, which then consisted of one million acres of the last remaining unmined jungle land in Cambodia. More recently, he founded the nonprofit Ecoflix Foundation and worldwide streaming video channel dedicated to saving animals and the planet. He remains its CEO. He is a member of the Board of Directors of The Wolf Connection in Los Angeles, and a member of the Advisory Board of the Whale Sanctuary Project in Nova Scotia.

For over 20 years, David has worked in partnership with Lek Chailert, the founder of Elephant Nature Park, a world-renowned sanctuary and rescue center for elephants in Chiang Mai, Thailand. With David by her side, in 2023 Lek received the Legion of Honor award from French President Emmanuel Macron.
