Judy A. Beal, DNSc, RN, FNAP, FAAN
She has served as president, secretary, director and chair in: Sigma Theta Tau, the American Association of Colleges of Nursing, the Massachusetts Association of Registered Nurses, and Yale University Alumni Association. Since 2004, Dr. Beal has held numerous leadership roles at the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) including: chair of the Nominating Committee, two terms on the Board, two terms as Secretary, and Chair-Elect.
As an RWJ Executive Nurse Fellow, Dr. Beal created a national forum on academic-practice partnerships which led to the recognition that these partnerships positioned nursing to lead change and advance health. She has written extensively on this issue and has led three AACN-AONE/AONL task forces. She currently co-chairs the AACN/AONL Advisory Committee.
In Massachusetts, Dr. Beal served as Vice President and Secretary of the Massachusetts Association of Colleges of Nursing, co-chair of the RWJ Action Coalition, and member of the board and secretary of the Massachusetts Nurses Association.
Dr. Beal is widely published with more than 125 peer-reviewed articles. Her well-funded program of research focuses on the development of a model of clinical nurse scholars. Dr. Beal is on the editorial boards of the American Journal of Maternal Child Nursing and a peer reviewer for the Journal of Pediatric Nursing, the Journal of Professional Nursing, Nursing Outlook, and Research in Nursing and Health.
Dr. Beal received her BSN from Skidmore College, her MSN from Yale University, and DNSc from Boston University. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing.
